Virgil Mitchell Obituary , Death – Virgil “Junior” Mitchell, who was 86 years old at the time of his death, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton. He called the town of Christiansburg in Ohio his home. In Piqua, Ohio, on May 20, 1937, he was born to his parents, the late Virgil Mitchell and Ruth (Landis) Mitchell. His father passed away before he was born. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Tony Mitchell (and his wife Melissa) of Christiansburg.

Philip Allan Mitchell (and his wife Shannon) Mitchell of Trotwood, and Gloria Mitchell of DeGraff; five granddaughters; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and his sister Joanne Mote. He also leaves behind a number of great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ruth “Carolyn” (Allen) Mitchell; his son, Ronald Mitchell of DeGraff; and his brothers, Donald Mitchell, Dick Thompson, Jack Mitchell, and Ed Sizemore.

Ruth “Carolyn” (Allen) Mitchell was his wife. He was also predeceased by his son, Ronald Mitchell of DeGraff. A resident of DeGraff, Ronald Mitchell of DeGraff was a person named Ronald Mitchell.  Junior received his education at Bradford High School, and after graduating, he enlisted in the Army of the United States of America. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Christiansburg and served as a volunteer with the Christiansburg Fire Department for the better part of half a century.

Prior to that, he had worked there for Champion Paper. Both fishing and racing automobiles were ardent interests of his. On Monday, October 16, 2023, at eleven in the morning, funeral services are going to be held at the Baird Funeral Home in Troy, which is located in Ohio. In the hours leading up to the funeral ceremony, there will be a visitation held between the hours of 10:00 and 11:00 AM. The burial of the deceased will take place at Casstown Cemetery, which has been selected as the location for the funeral services. If someone so chooses, they are welcome to make contributions to Hospice of Dayton in lieu of sending flowers.
